Water Spots On Honed Marble

Honed marble has a matte surface that will still react and etch but the result dull spot is not as visible since the surface is already somewhat dull not reflective like polished marble. If there is a stain though we haven t yet had one in here i make a natural marble poultice from mixing baking soda and water to create a paste smear the paste over the stain and cover it with cling wrap to keep the poultice in place. Apply the poultice onto the stain going approximately 1 2 over it all around keeping it as thick as possible at. Wash it off after 12 24 hours and the stain should be gone.

This occurs when water containing large amounts of mineral deposits like calcium and magnesium commonly called hard water is allowed time to dry on your marble surface. Simple drops of water leave a dullness as does using a dry paper towel you can see the webbed imprint of the paper when you lift it up. Water spots are defined as water deposits built up on your marble surface. If properly sealed stains should not be an issue with honed marble.

For water spots light scratches and nicks try buffing your marble with dry 0000 steel wool. Leave the whole thing alone for at least 24 hours and then remove the plastic wrap. This newly exposed marble is not polished and looks very dull compared to its polished surroundings. This is because the acid removes the surface material and exposes marble that was ordinary below the surface.

Etching is most noticeable on polished marble. Etch marks on polished marble look much worse than on honed marble. Scrub over the marble surface to remove fresh water marks or light spots of the hazy residue. This is not to say that stains will never occur but an adequate seal will lessen the likelihood that stains will be a problem.

Allow the poultice. Drizzle a few drops of dish soap over a damp cleaning rag. Water stains are yet another common stain that occurs on marble. How does marble handle stains scratches and etches.
