If your furnace is showing a pressure switch error it can be concerning. Pressure change due to blockage so it opens or closes the circuit sending the impulse to the circuit board for further action. I recently moved into a newly built home and we ve been running into some issues with the hot water and a few other things. Came home to no heat.

Upon turning on the switch you should immediately here the blower for the powervent kick on. Unit has been installed for 19 months no problems. Use an ohmmeter to check if the pressure switch is opening or closing properly when heat is called for. When your heater is displaying water switch open it does not always require the pressure switch to be adjusted. Turn on the switch for the water heater. The furnace was loud and caused by the draft inducer. The pressure switch which is normally open switch is off senses the drop in pressure and closes to complete the circuit switch is on.

Also noticed the control board was blinking red. Pressure switch failed open. Next take off one of the power hoses and blow on it. The good news is that usually an open pressure switch error isn t an extremely extensive or expensive fix.

Plug in one of the two wires you disconnected from the pressure switch into the thin piece of metal thus making a jumper out off the flat metal. The circuit must be closed at all time during the heating cycle.
